Advertising
We offer both display advertising and classified advertising. Please see the current fee structure here.
If you wish to submit a classified advertisement, you can do so by using this form.
Change of Address notification
Please advise the GFA Secretariat using the form on the back of the mailing address sheet to notify changes of address. (Non-members should also use the mailing address sheet for renewal of subscriptions).
Submission of Articles
If you have access to the Internet, please forward the article by e-mail, alternatively, if using a word processor, send it in on disk, carefully packaged, and identify the package used. We can only use IBM-PC compatible systems. Always include a hard copy in case of damage to the disk.
Only use the fax if it is close to a deadline, otherwise please send a neatly typed single spaced original, on white paper, and preferably unfolded. This will enable the document to be scanned, and avoid re-typing. Always use a reasonable size type font (equivalent to a normal typewriter size).
Cover Photographs
The GFA Development department is trying to encourage high quality cover photographs on the joint magazine to help promote the sport of gliding. To this end the GFA will pay $150 for any gliding specific photographs (from GFA members) published on the front cover (Maximum 6/year). There is also an award presented at the ABM each year for the best SA cover photograph, and to provide incentive for members a cash prize of $250 for the best annual photograph will also be presented. Note GFA and HGFA alternate months for cover photograph inclusion.
Please consult your club's airworthiness or operations personnel regarding camera mounts and any other issues associated with setting up for the session. All issues must be carefully considered and pre-organised beforehand. The quality of the photographs is vital. Slides or negatives will be preferred over a 5x4 print for example which will not reproduce satisfactorily.
The front cover requires a resolution of at least 3000x2000, so if you are using a digital camera that means at least a 5 Mega pixel camera, although with some processing good results can be achieved with lower resolutions. Digital photographs should be provided, in order of preference, in RAW, TIFF or JPEG format with minimal compression. Details including the date, location, names of photographer and pilots, aircraft and a description of the equipment used to take the photo must be provided. Digital images on CD and slides or negatives can be posted to the GFA Secretariat, Attn: The Development department.
All photographs provided may be published on the GFA website photo gallery or in future GFA calendars, with acknowledgment of course. So, get those cameras out and lets see if we can't smarten up the front cover of our magazine!
Please Note: GFA and CASA regulations require that aircraft clear all obstacles and people by at least 50'. Further please be aware that looking through camera viewfinders may cause you to misjudge the distance to landing gliders, for example. Please ensure that all photographic sessions are conducted safely and responsibly and that separation is maintained and all regulations adhered to.
